PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested the uncle of a 19-month-old boy who was mauled to death by dogs in Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Buloh here.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the 19-year-old, who is the victim's uncle, was detained at 11.50am on Thursday (July 24).

"The post-mortem examination on the victim revealed that he died after being mauled by canines.

"We advise the public not to speculate on the case. We urge those with information to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Aizad Abd Azik at 013-4861 194 or the Sungai Buloh police headquarters at 03-6156 1222 or the nearest police station," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 24).

Supt Mohd Hafiz was previously reported as saying that they received a report on the incident at 8.40am on Tuesday (July 22) from a Sungai Buloh Hospital emergency department medical officer.

"The child was brought to the emergency zone unconscious and was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but there was no response. He was pronounced dead at 9.14am.

"Initial checks revealed scratches and wounds on the victim's head and body," he said.

He said the boy's parents had just returned from work at about 8.15am and found the door to their house was open. Their son was found unconscious about 20m from the house, with several dogs near the body.

It is understood that the boy had been under the care of his uncle at the time and was sleeping in the living room.
