A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy miraculously survived after falling from the 18th floor of a building in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China.
Sin Chew Daily reported that even the boy’s father, known only as Zhu, could not believe it until he saw surveillance footage.
The boy hit a window on a lower floor, which altered his trajectory and caused him to fall on a tree.
He eventually landed face down in a bush.
A site inspection revealed that some tree branches were broken and the child had multiple scratches, supporting the theory that the branches cushioned his fall and saved his life.
Recalling the incident on July 15, Zhu said his son accidentally fell out of the window, which had no security bars.
Zhu said that property management staff helped call emergency services and send his son to the hospital.
He added that his son is now recovering from a fractured left arm, spinal strain and multiple internal injuries.
“Fortunately, his head was not injured,” Zhu said.
Believing that the tree branches buffered the impact and saved his son, the family has since tied a red string to the tree as a sign of gratitude.
