Wreckage of crashed police chopper retrieved


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The wreckage of the police helicopter that crashed into Sungai Pulai at Gelang Patah here last week has been successfully retrieved.

The recovery operation began early Thursday (July 17) morning and involved multiple agencies.

The AS355N helicopter, bearing the registration number 9M-PHG, was lifted in stages using a crane vessel and was escorted by several Royal Malaysia Police assets.

The helicopter was involved in an accident at about 10.15am on July 10 while taking part in the Multilateral Nuclear Security Detection Exercise (Mitsatom) 2025.

The exercise, held at the Gelang Patah Maritime Jetty, was a collaboration involving Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.

All five crew members were rescued and are being treated at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Baru.
