KUALA LUMPUR: A 20-year-old private university student previously reported missing has been found dead.

Cheras Deputy OCPD Supt Ridzuan Khalid said Sithu Hpone Maw from Myanmar is believed to have fallen from the 26th floor of his condominium.

"His body was found at about 8.30am on July 9. The victim's 54-year-old father has since identified the body on Wednesday (July 16)," he said when contacted on Thursday (July 17).

The case has been classified as sudden death, he added.

"The victim's family will bring back his remains to Myanmar on July 22," he said.

Meanwhile, the private university issued a statement on the tragedy, saying the victim will be fondly remembered for his spirit, dedication, and the happiness he brought to those around him.

"We stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and loved ones during this time of profound loss.

"We also empathise with the Myanmar community on campus as we mourn this tragic loss together. May he rest in peace," the university said.
