Snatch theft suspect caught within 24 hours in Kota Baru


KOTA BARU: Police arrested a man believed to be involved in a snatch theft at the parking area of a Lembah Sireh hypermarket here, just 24 hours after the incident.

Kota Baru OCPD Mohd Rosdi Daud said the incident occurred at 7.28pm on Sunday (July 13), when a woman had her handbag snatched by a man riding a red motorcycle.

The victim suffered losses amounting to RM220, and the case was being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

"Acting on information, police arrested the suspect around 9am yesterday (July 14) and seized several items, including a motorcycle," he said in a statement.

ACP Mohd Rosdi stated that further investigations revealed the suspect was also linked to five other snatch theft cases reported in the district.

A urine test conducted on the suspect returned negative for drugs, and he would be brought to the Kota Bharu Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (July 15) for a remand application. – Bernama
