Missing man was on his way to repair car, say Muar cops


MUAR: The man who went missing after his car plunged into a river here was last seen on his way to get it repaired, say police.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the man was last seen at about 9.30am on Monday (July 14), a day before his sunken car was discovered.

“Based on the information we received, the man was last seen at his house in Jalan Setia Indah 7/6 in Johor Baru on Monday. 

“He was said to have left home to head to Parit Bakar in Muar to get his car fixed,” he said in a statement.

He added that police and the fire and rescue department are in the process of retrieving the vehicle from the river.

“As of the time this statement was issued, no victim has been found,” he said, adding that search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

He also urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the Muar district police headquarters at 06-956 4800 to assist with the investigation.

It was earlier reported that a man is feared missing after his car was found submerged in Sungai Kampung Tui on Tuesday (July 15).
