Man feared drowned after submerged car found in Johor river


MUAR: A man is believed to have drowned after his car was found submerged in a river along Jalan Bukit Kepong here.

Johor Fire and Rescue Department zone four chief Nor Shuhada Amsari said they received a call about a vehicle that had plunged into Sungai Kampung Tui at 3.22pm on Tuesday (July 15).

"A team was deployed to the scene where they found a car that had sunk to a depth of about two metres.

“Initial information from the police suggests that the accident may have happened the day before, and an adult male believed to be the driver is still missing.

“Search and rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the victim, who is believed to be in his 40s,” she said in a statement.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz confirmed that they had received information about the incident at about 3.30pm on Tuesday (July 15).

"Currently, divers from the Fire and Rescue Department are scouting the area to look for the victim," he added.
