‘Barisan ready to go solo if needed’

MELAKA: Barisan Nasional is ready to contest the Melaka election alone if no agreement is reached with Pakatan Harapan, says the coalition’s deputy chairman.

Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pic) said Barisan is keeping its options open, although no formal discussions have taken place with Pakatan regarding an alliance.

“We are prepared for any scenario that benefits the party. If it’s a good move, we will do so and if we feel better to stand alone, then we will do so,” he told reporters after opening the Kota Melaka Umno division delegates meeting.

Mohamad, who is also Umno deputy president, said no decision has been made and potential strategies are still under review.
