CID director Shuhaily transferred to AKPS to serve as DG from July 1

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain will be transferred to the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) effective July 1.

He will serve a two-year term as AKPS director-general until June 30, 2027. He was appointed as CID director in August 2023.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar has been tapped to succeed Comm Mohd Shuhaily as CID Director.

News of the transfer began circulating on social media since Friday (June 27) night.

When contacted, Comm Mohd Shuhaily confirmed receiving the transfer order but he refused to comment further.

He also asked for the media to wait for the handing over ceremony, which takes place on Monday (June 30).

According to the transfer directive, two other officers are also affected. A Superintendent from the Special Branch’s Strategic Policy Secretariat at Bukit Aman has been reassigned to the Corporate Communications division of the Inspector-General of Police’s Secretariat.

Additionally, Supt Abd Rashid Abu Bakar, formerly serving in Corporate Communications, will now take up a new role as Superintendent of Corporate Communications (2) under the same secretariat.

The directive, however, did not indicate who will replace Comm Kumar as Johor police chief.
