Gerik bus crash: Victim cooked 'mi celup' for family before tragic journey

GERIK: Wan Nur Suhaila Wan Muhammad, one of the victims killed in the tragic crash along the East-West Highway in Banun, had cooked a meal for her family on Sunday (June 9) before returning to Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim.

Her brother, Wan Muhammad Sham, said his 22-year-old sister prepared "mi celup" for the family on the day she was leaving after the Aidiladha holidays.

The family had gathered at their hometown in Jerteh, Terengganu, marking a rare occasion with all nine siblings present.

"My sister didn’t show any change in behaviour. She was cheerful and friendly as always. Yesterday, she cooked mi celup for everyone before heading back to university," he said at the Forensic Unit of the Gerik hospital on Monday (June 9).

Wan Muhammad said he was informed of the accident around 3.30am by their mother and rushed to the hospital with other family members.

"At first, we didn’t know her condition. It was only after we arrived at the hospital that we were told she had passed away," he said.

Wan Nur Suhaila was the sixth of nine siblings and a fourth-semester student majoring in Literature at UPSI.
