KOTA TINGGI: A tourist resort on Johor's Desaru Coast has been taken over by a new operator, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The Johor Mentri Besar said Mandarin Oriental has officially been appointed as the new operator for the resort previously managed by One&Only.

"Mandarin Oriental is not just a hotel brand, it is a symbol of timeless elegance, world-class hospitality and architectural excellence.

"The fact that Johor has been chosen to host only the second Mandarin Oriental property in Malaysia in nearly 30 years speaks volumes.

"It is a clear testament to Johor's and Malaysia's growing stature, strategic value, and untapped potential," he said during the signing ceremony of the hotel management agreement here on Thursday (June 5).

The announcement follows reports of the closure of the One&Only Desaru Coast resort.
