Firefighters save woman trapped in Klang apartment building blaze

KLANG: A woman was trapped indoors when fire broke out in a third-floor unit of a four-storey walk-up apartment here.

The 27-year-old was rescued unscathed by firemen who rushed to the scene.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the incident occurred at 2.27pm on Tuesday (May 27) at the Vista Indah apartments at Taman Bayu Perdana.

Fire engines from the Port Klang and Andalas fire stations arrived at the scene at 2.33pm and their crews brought the fire under control by 2.40pm, he added.

"The fire damage is estimated to be at 20 % and overhaul work is being carried out currently," he added.

In firefighting, overhauling is the process of finding and putting out any lingering pockets of fire after the main blaze is brought under control.
