Motorcyclist dies after accident near Johor Baru


JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist has died while receiving treatment at the Sultan Aminah Hospital after an accident near here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the incident occurred at KM24.1 Jalan Johor Baru-Pontian on Sunday (May 18) at 11.20am.

“The accident involved a bike ridden by the 25-year-old local man and a car driven by a 66-year-old woman,” he said in a statement.

ACP Kumarasan said the car was heading towards the main road when the motorcycle, coming from behind, hit the left side of the car.

“The victim was thrown onto the road after hitting the car, while his motorcycle was thrown into the river,” he added.

ACP Kumarasan urged anyone with information on the accident to contact the Iskandar Puteri Police Contingent headquarters' investigation division at 07-5101322.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
