Rusted mortar shell found in Kuala Kangsar

PETALING JAYA: A rusted mortar shell has been found in some bushes in Kampung Kandang Hilir, Kuala Kangsar, on Saturday (May 17).

Kuala Kangsar police chief Asst Comm Heisham Harun police received a call about the discovery at 7.02pm, Sinar Harian reported.

He said the complainant led officers to shell, which was located about 30m from his house.

"The surrounding area has been cordoned off for safety purposes," he said, adding that other units arrived to assist the operation.

"Investigations found that the shell did not contain any explosives and it was removed," he said in a statement.

Heisham said the object was taken to police's bomb disposal unit base for further action.
