Police crack down on illegal motorcycle racing in Iskandar Puteri

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police conduct a special operation targeting illegal motorcycle activities in Taman Nusantara, following public complaints.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the area was a known hotspot for illegal racing.

“Police carried out a special operation on Saturday (May 17), which saw 58 motorcycles and 59 individuals inspected.

“Through the inspection, police handed out 72 summonses for various traffic offences, including riding without a valid license, illegal exhaust modifications, expired road tax, not wearing helmets, missing side mirrors, improper registration numbers and failing to display the ‘P’ probationary license sticker,” he said here on Sunday (May 18).

ACP Kumarasan said that the police were committed to taking firm action against these illegal street racers as their behaviour endangers themselves and other road users.

He added that similar operations would continue regularly and that police have already identified several other locations where illegal street racing and gatherings were taking place.

ACP Kumarasan urged parents to be vigilant and monitor their children’s movements and activities to prevent them from getting involved in street gang culture, which could lead to serious consequences.
