Easy does it: Rescuers carrying the victim down Mount Kinabalu.

KOTA KINABALU: A woman hurt the back of her neck after falling when descending Mount Kinabalu.

The 41-year-old Malaysian was then carried down the mountain, and handed over to medical officials before she was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Ranau fire station chief Rantey Fred said they received a distress call at around 8.30am yesterday from the mountain guides on duty.

“The victim fell near KM6, while going down the mountain,” Rantey said.

“Following her fall, she hurt the back of her neck.”

Rantey said mountain search and rescue personnel arrived at the scene not long after.

“Our personnel brought her down and reached Timpohon gate base at around noon,” he said.

Operations on site ended at 12.45pm, and the victim is reported to be in stable condition, he added.
