Kedah's Sultan Abdul Halim Airport temporarily closed to clear Air Force plane from runway


ALOR SETAR: The Sultan Abdul Halim Airport has been forced to close temporarily to facilitate the removal of a Air Force plane and subsequent runway clearing works.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said a Notice to Airmen was issued and the closure is expected to continue until 10.30pm.

"During this closure, all flight operations at the airport will be impacted," it said in a statement on Tuesday (May 6).

It said passengers, including those travelling for haj, are advised to check with their respective airlines or Lembaga Tabung Haji for the latest flight information.

It also said the airport will provide further updates once the runway is declared safe and open for flight operations by the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM).

At the time of writing, there is no further information on what kind of aircraft-related incident happened at the airport.
