Father stabs 11-year-old son in Kelantan

PASIR MAS: An 11-year-old boy is believed to have been stabbed by his father, a teacher, in an incident in Kampung Banggol Che Dol here on Friday (May 2).

The incident was believed to have occurred around 8am, involving a man in his 40s who allegedly has a mental health issue, reported Sinar Harian.

The victim's great-grandfather, Mohd Yusof Sulaiman, 77, said he was out to meet a friend at a nearby coffee shop at the time of the incident.

“When I returned to the house next door, I saw my great-grandson sitting on the steps of the house. Not long after, the police arrived,” he said when met by reporters on Friday.

Mohd Yusof was shocked by the incident.

Meanwhile, a villager known as Ahmad said he found out about the incident after seeing the bloodied victim being carried out by his great-grandfather.

He said the victim was taken to the hospital by his great-grandfather and uncle.

"The house was quiet before the incident. The suspect works as a teacher and has only lived here for a year. He previously taught in Pahang, and his wife is also a teacher," he said.

The victim, the youngest of six siblings, was in stable condition and was receiving treatment at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) in Kota Bharu.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Pasir Mas Regional Police, Assistant Commissioner Kama Azural Mohamed, confirmed receiving a report regarding the case when contacted.

According to him, further investigation was underway.
