Man found dead with gunshot to the head in Kuching


KUCHING: A 34-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in a car on Jalan Stephen Yong, Kuching, early Saturday (April 26) morning.

The man was found dead in his car by two friends who reported the incident around 5.30am.

Padawan district police chief Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, told Sinar Harian that the two men informed Batu Kawa Police Station that their friend appeared to have been shot.

"A team from the Padawan District Police Headquarters (IPD) and medical officers confirmed the death of the victim, a local man.

"There was evidence of a gunshot wound to the victim's head," he said in a statement on Saturday.

He later said the victim was not the driver of the car but just a passenger.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"Those with information on the incident can contact Investigating Officer Assistant Superintendent Sylvarius at 013-863 7241," he added.
