Johor teen expected to be charged today over AI-doctored lewd pics

KULAI: A 16-year-old school student who allegedly used artificial intelegence (AI) to sell altered nude photographs of people is expected to be charged on Wednesday (April 23).

Sources said the boy, who allegedly sold the pictures for as low as RM2 each to about a dozen people is expected to be charged at a Kulai Magistrate's Court here.

Sources said he is expected to be charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code for the sale, distribution or circulation of obscene materials and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) for sharing offensive and inappropriate content.

Sources said the boy, a former student from a Chinese school in Kulai, had used AI to generate nude pictures of people resulting in a 19-year-old girl lodging a police report after finding an alleged nude picture of her on social media.

The first report was lodged in March.

All transactions were allegedly done online.

It was reported earlier that the principal of the Chinese school in Kulai had resigned following the arrest of two students who allegedly used AI to create fake nude images of women before selling them online.
