TAPAH: The Barisan Nasional candidate for the Ayer Kuning by-election has unveiled seven pledges in his manifesto, which includes a focus on efforts improving economy activity.

Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir also pledged to improve the constituents’ livelihoods, develop infrastructure, advance the youth agenda and strengthen the Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme.

Protecting the wellbeing of the elderly, women and the Orang Asli community, as well as ensuring children get proper education and improving public services were also some of the manifesto’s highlights.

“Providing special grants for small entrepreneurs, farmers, smallholders and hawkers, expanding market access for agricultural produce and village products and empowering entrepreneurship through mentorship and e-commerce are part of the plan,” he said in announcing the manifesto at the Barisan command centre here yesterday, Bernama reported.

Mohamad Yusri said he plans to expand the mobile shop and Jualan Rahmah initiatives, and provide opportunities for petty traders to participate in community welfare programmes.

He said quality education is a key focus, with efforts to upgrade facilities in primary, secondary and preschool institutions, along with providing educational support and motivational classes for students.

“I will also have a service centre with extended operating hours including on weekends, and conduct regular visits to villages and residential areas to listen to and resolve community issues directly,” he said.

Mohamad Yusri said the manifesto, themed “Ayer Kuning Sejahtera Bersama” (A Prosperous Ayer Kuning For All), was inspired by the local community, gathered through direct engagement and carefully structured based on observations on the ground.

He said the entire effort is anchored on upholding unity and harmony, rejecting racial sentiments and divisive politics, and boosting socioeconomic initiatives in the constituency.
