Ayer Kuning polls: Prioritise political victory over performing umrah, haj, Hadi tells Malay voters

TAPAH: Prioritise political victory over performing umrah and haj, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang hinted to Malay voters.

Berita Harian quoted the PAS president in saying that political victory cannot be delayed, whereby Islam must be in power to lead, as according to Allah's command.

Abdul Hadi said Muslims should take heed from the Prophet Muhammad's example, when the Prophet postponed his umrah until after the Treaty of Hudaibiyah was signed.

"Political victory cannot be delayed. Islam must be in power, to rule through its teachings," he said at a Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Kampung Tanjong Keramat here on Saturday night (April 19).

Abdul Hadi said many Muslims today do not share this view, choosing to perform pilgrimages rather than pursuing political strength.

"This is what Amanah don't understand — those who jumped (from PAS), the Umno members who don't read (the Prophet's history). That's why it's easy for them to follow DAP due to ignorance.

"We must understand, political victory to Islam is very important. Islam must be in power and to rule and lead," said the Marang MP.

"In Malaysia, the majority of Muslims are Malays.

"They have rights to lead but this doesn't mean we deny the rights of the non-Muslims," he said.

"Non-Muslims are allowed to be in an Islamic country and join the government but the highest political power must be (led) by Muslims," he added.

Also present were PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Perak PAS chairman Razman Zakaria.
