Ayer Kuning polls: Perikatan still compiling constituents' issues for manifesto

TAPAH: Perikatan Nasional is still compiling issues faced by Ayer Kuning constituents, which will be addressed in its soon-to-be-released manifesto.

Abd Muhaimin Malek, Perikatan's candidate for the by-election, said the manifesto would be ready in two to three days.

"These are issues we collected from villages and areas we've been to," the Tapah PAS chief said in a press conference in Ayer Kuning on Friday (April 18).

On Thursday, PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad said the manifesto would be revealed in a week's time.

The Bagan Serai MP said the focus of the manifesto would be to strengthen the local economy, improve rural infrastructure, education, welfare, and empowerment of youth and women.

On another issue, Idris called on the Perak government to address the burst pipe incident in Tapah that left 50,000 people without water for about two weeks in February.

The Bagan Serai MP said the Perak Water Board on Feb 10 said there was a land encroachment issue that led to the burst pipe.

"The state needs to identify those responsible and take stern action. The people deserve to know the truth and the government must ensure such an incident will not recur," he said.

The Ayer Kuning by-election was called after its incumbent Ishsam Shahruddin passed away in February.

Polling day is on April 26 and early voting is on April 22.

Perikatan will be represented by Abd Muhaimin Malek, who faces Barisan Nasional's Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir and KS Bawani of Parti Sosialis Malaysia.
