Perak cops investigate picture of Jalur Gemilang without crescent

IPOH: The Perak police have confirmed receiving a report regarding the picture featuring the Jalur Gemilang without its crescent that was published on the front page of the Sin Chew Daily newspaper on Tuesday (April 15).

Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin stated that the report was lodged by an individual who claimed to have seen the graphic on the Facebook page known as "Tionghua Berjiwa Malaysia."

"The individual then cross-checked the printed version of the newspaper and found that the image matched the one shown on the Facebook page," he said in a statement on Thursday (April 17).

The case is currently being investigated under Section 4(1)(b) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for allegedly publishing material that could mislead the public and potentially incite provocation.

"The public is advised not to speculate, spread false information or share provocative content that could disrupt public order.

"Stern action will be taken against anyone found violating the law," he added.
