Former Silam MP Salleh Kalbi passes away aged 61


LAHAD DATU: Former Silam MP Datuk Salleh Kalbi passed away at the Lahad Datu Hospital at 4.40am on Sunday due to a lung infection. He was 61.

His wife, Datin Fatmah Abdul Aziz, said he had been receiving treatment at the hospital for over two weeks.

“The funeral will be managed and prayers will be held at Masjid Firdaus Kampung Sapagaya. Burial is expected at the Muslim Cemetery in Kampung Terusan after the Zohor prayer on Sunday (April 13),” she said.

He was a Barisan Nasional representative for Silam Parliament (now Lahad Datu Parliament) from 2008 to 2013, representing the Tungku, Lahad Datu and Kunak State Legislative Assembly.

Known for his humility and approachability, he continued advocating for Lahad Datu's people through PKR until his final days.

He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Amirah Mahfuzah Syopieah and Amera Elezadiba Syalesiah.
