Ipoh cops investigate Molotov cocktail Incident in Kampung Rapat

IPOH: The police are seeking the suspect involved in throwing Molotov cocktails at a house in Kampung Rapat.

Ipoh OCPD Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that a 62-year-old woman filed five police reports regarding an incident that occurred at her home between Wednesday (March 26) and Friday (April 4).

"Preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that the complainant received a threat via a note left at her front gate, demanding debt repayment. Subsequently, five Molotov cocktails were thrown into her property's compound," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 8).

He said burn marks were found on the gate, parking area, front door and walls of the house.

He also said that the case was being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire.

"The public is encouraged to come forward with any information by contacting the senior investigating officer, ASP Dasarathan, at 012-5644484, or by reaching out to the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.

“The police also advise the public not to borrow money from unlicensed moneylenders, especially online, to avoid harassment or violent tactics from unscrupulous individuals," he continued.

"The police take this incident seriously and urge the public to remain calm in such situations and refrain from engaging in any unlawful actions," he added.

Earlier, police discovered a viral video uploaded by a social media account called “Update Info Semasa #Update” which showed an individual throwing a Molotov cocktail toward the balcony and five-foot walkway of a house in Kampung Rapat, Ipoh, Perak.
