Over 300 people still displaced due to stagnant floodwaters in Parit Raja


BATU PAHAT: A total of 326 people from 108 families remain displaced after their homes in Kampung Baharu, Parit Raja, were inundated by stagnant floodwaters.

The Johor Disaster Management Committee reported that all evacuees are currently sheltered at a temporary relief centre set up at SMK Seri Gading.

"As of 8am on Monday (April 7), the number of evacuees remains unchanged at 326 people," the committee stated, noting that there have been no developments since midnight.

The area has been dealing with stagnant floodwaters since last week, and authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several districts in Johor, including Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Baru.
