Subang Jaya inferno: PM Anwar urges agencies to assist evacuees

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor state government and relevant federal agencies have been asked to assist evacuated victims of the massive gas explosion in Putra Heights, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said that he wanted the respective agencies involved to render aid to the victims.

"I pray that all goes smoothly for all those on duty at Putra Heights.

"I have also asked the Selangor state government and related agencies to provide appropriate assistance to the victims who were evacuated," the Prime Minister posted on his Instagram on Tuesday (April 1).

A total of 78 Fire and Rescue Department personnel members have been fighting to put out the fire caused by a gas pipeline leak in Putra Heights, Puchong, since early Tuesday (April 1) morning.

Although PETRONAS Gas Bhd has shut down the valve to the affected pipeline, the fire is still raging in the Jalan Harmoni area of Putra Heights because of the remaining gas.

About 49 homes from two areas near the gas fires were affected.

A total of 82 victims were rescued, with 12 sustaining injuries and currently receiving treatment.
