Negri cop remanded five days over alleged RM1,000 bribe


SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a five-day remand order on a policewoman who allegedly solicited and accepted a RM1,000 bribe.

A spokesman for the graft buster said Magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran signed the order on Wednesday (March 26) following an application by the MACC.

The suspect, in her 30s, will be remanded until Sunday (March 30).

"The suspect allegedly demanded the bribe on March 20 to reduce a fine related to a case she was investigating," the spokesman said.

The suspect was arrested at her office at around noon on Tuesday (March 25).

When contacted, Negri Sembilan MACC director Awangkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrest.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
