Flight MH720 lands safely at KLIA after declaring emergency midflight from Jakarta


PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia Airlines Flight MH720 from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur carrying 114 passengers landed safely at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this evening after declaring an emergency during mid-flight.

Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud confirmed the incident when contacted here on Tuesday (March 18), stating that there was an inflight emergency.

"No injuries. All passengers disembarked and waiting for baggage will take some time, while some passengers with connecting flights will be taken care of for their onward journey," he said without disclosing the nature of the emergency.

The distress signal was received at 6.02pm and the aircraft safely landed at KLIA's Runway 32R at 6.17pm, he added. – Bernama
