KUALA LUMPUR: The two-month 2025 Ramadan Raya Buy Local campaign, which began on March 1, aims to double last year's total sales to RM5mil this year.

Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said that within just 15 days, the initiative under the MyMall digital sales platform has already recorded RM2.6mil in sales.

"This is a positive development for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in generating income and sales in conjunction with Ramadan through MyMall," he told reporters after opening the campaign here on Monday (March 17).

On MyMall, he said 2,857 entrepreneurs have registered on the platform, collectively generating RM10.819mil in sales since its launch in 2022.

He said the ministry would continue to support the platform, providing free registration for all MSMEs and cooperatives, as well as complimentary marketing and advertising for their products.

The ministry, he said, would continue to provide various financing schemes through its seven agencies, to support entrepreneurs in need of additional capital.

According to him, the ministry disbursed RM9.577bil in financing and grants to 333,625 MSMEs and cooperatives last year.

"I believe this year, with the enthusiasm and desire of our entrepreneurs and cooperatives to scale their businesses, (and) with the availability of these agencies to help, the value can be increased further," he said.

Entrepreneur Suryani Saidin, 46, said she was thankful for the opportunity to operate a stall at Odeon Kuala Lumpur, a venue owned by UDA Holdings, an agency under the ministry.

"The ministry has given a lot of support to small entrepreneurs like me in boosting sales. Hopefully, this programme can be continued,” said Suryani, who specialises in sambal ikan bilis and beef dendeng.

Local entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses are encouraged to join the MyMall digital sales platform by registering on its website or sending an e-mail to  contact@mymallmalaysia.my. – Bernama
