GEORGE TOWN: Malaysian magician Samuel Chong has been listed as one of the participants in Canada’s biggest talent competition, Canada’s Got Talent.

He is the only Malaysian contestant in the latest season of the reality show, which will feature over 100 acts.

Due to the competition’s production contract, Chong said he could not disclose details of his performance until the show’s premiere.

The new season is set to air on March 18 on Citytv.

“Those who are interested can tune in to the two-hour episode on Citytv or stream it on Citytv+,” he said when contacted.

However, he also explained that his segment was taped in mid-2024, and he is unsure whether it will be shown.

On his website, Chong bills himself as a magician and comedian.

“Occasionally, he selects a lucky ‘victim’ on whom to perform his famous pickpocket routine, making the unsuspecting person’s watch and wallet disappear, only to reproduce them to the amazement and amusement of everyone around,” the website states.

Chong, 42, has also used 1,120 Rubik’s cubes on stage to create a portrait of famous illusionist David Copperfield.

Canada’s Got Talent made its debut in 2012.

It is a competition where entertainers from various fields compete for fame and top prizes.

Auditions were held before judges and a live audience across Canada, where participants were either eliminated or voted through to the next stage.
