Thunderstorm warning issued for multiple regions nationwide


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across various regions in Malaysia, with the warning in effect until 6pm on Thursday (Mar 13).

In Kedah, areas such as Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu are on alert.

Penang and Perak residents should also brace for severe weather.

In Kelantan, districts including Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang are expected to be affected.

Terengganu regions such as Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman are under the warning.

In Pahang, areas including Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, and Bentong are forecasted to experience adverse weather.

Selangor, along with WP Kuala Lumpur and WP Putrajaya, is also on alert.

The warning extends to Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, specifically Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, and Batu Pahat.

In Sabah, the Interior regions (Tenom and Nabawan), West Coast (Papar), and Tawau are expected to be impacted.

This warning is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

The warning is a short-term alert, effective for up to six hours from issuance.
