Siti Nurhaliza's 'Anta Permana' among King Charles' fave tunes

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza has literally made music fit for a king.

Her song Anta Permana is one of the tracks picked by England's King Charles III for The King's Music Room, released on Apple Music to mark 2025's Commonwealth Day.

The song was composed by Ezra Kong and Hael Husaini and released in 2018.

King Charles appears to have eclectic taste – his picks range from crooners, afrobeat, disco, reggae and of course our very own "pop queen" Siti.

Other artistes that have caught his ear include Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, Michael Buble and Diana Ross, amongst others

In a video recorded at Buckingham Palace in His Majesty’s office, King Charles III opens the broadcast by saying that throughout his life, music has meant a great deal to him.

"It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness and to take us to distant places. "But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration. In other words, it brings us joy," he says.

In the description for the playlist, King Charles gives further insight into his picks.

"They evoke many different styles and many different cultures. But all of them, like the family of Commonwealth nations, in their many different ways, share the same love of life in all its richness and diversity," he says.
