KUALA LUMPUR: As of February this year, over 72,000 Year One pupils have mastered the essential 3M skills of reading, writing, and counting through the Literacy and Numeracy intervention programme, says the Education Ministry.

It said a total of 122,062 Year One pupils had participated in the intervention programme.

“Up till February this year, a total of 72,385 students have successfully mastered the basic skills of numeracy and literacy,” said the Education Ministry in a Parliamentary written reply dated March 5.

The Education Ministry said a total of 49,677 students who still needed additional guidance will be joining the Special Remedial Programme in Year Two this year.

“These students will be guided until they reach the level of mastery needed,” it said.

“With continuous support, we are confident that every student will be able to achieve their full potential and master literacy and numeracy,” it added.
