KUCHING: Sarawak will highlight its commitment to spearheading the global transition towards clean energy at the International Energy Week (IEW) in July.

The IEW 2025 expo and summit will take place at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching from July 15-17 with the theme "From Sarawak to the World: Journey to Clean Energy Leadership".

State Deputy Energy and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said the event will showcase cutting-edge advancements in renewable energy technologies, including hydrogen power, solar energy and carbon capture.

"IEW 2025 aims to position Sarawak as a global leader in sustainable energy while fostering innovation and international collaborations," he said in a statement on Monday (March 3).

He added that it was also a platform to promote renewable energy initiatives and attract investment opportunities, aligning with Sarawak's post-Covid-19 development strategy.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg is expected to launch the event, organised by Informa Markets Malaysia in partnership with the state Energy and Environmental Sustainability Ministry.

The summit is expected to attract 6,500 attendees from more than 25 countries, with the participation of over 400 companies and industry leaders.

It aims to deliver actionable policy recommendations and foster collaborations beyond the event to solidify Sarawak’s role as a hub for clean energy innovation within the Asean region.
