Tour agent slashed by rival over argument about slashed prices

KOTA KINABALU: A tour agent was slashed after he accused another agent of stealing customers from his company in Papar near here.

The victim was said to have gone over to the 33-year-old suspect’s office and confronted him about the lower tour packages offered, resulting in many Korean tourists switching from his company to the suspect’s.

Papar OCPD Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said in the incident near the Sungai Kampung Kawang, Beringgis, on Wednesday (Feb 26), both men had got into an argument over the matter.

“During the heat of the moment, the suspect suddenly went to his car and got out a sickle and started attacking the victim, causing injuries to the latter,” he said in a statement.

The suspect then fled the scene while the victim, who was injured on his ears and arms, was later taken to the hospital for treatment, he said.

A police report was lodged, and a manhunt was mounted for the suspect, said Supt Kamaruddin.

On Friday evening at around 4pm, police managed to capture the suspect, he said.

“The suspect is now investigated for causing hurt,” he said.

The victim is reported to be in stable condition.
