Any errors in financial reports must be rectified fast, Dr Wee says to EPF

PETALING JAYA: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) should acknowledge any errors in its financial reports instead of being defensive when mistakes are pointed out, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"When both EPF and the Finance Minister released a report stating the fund made returns of RM66.99bil, it was not specified whether these were gross or net returns.

"Only after I highlighted the error did they clarify that RM66.99bil was the gross return, and the net return was RM63.48bil, which was not mentioned earlier," the MCA president said on Facebook on Monday (Feb 24).

Regarding the returns on the sale of MAHB shares, Dr Wee noted that EPF initially reported RM107mil, but later revised it to RM102mil after accounting for foreign fund returns.

"Is this my fault again?" he questioned.

"Acknowledge mistakes as they are, there's no need to argue.

"EPF's commitment to its financial report is commendable, but if there is a mistake, it should put aside its ego, as everyone makes errors," he added.
