Rescue ops ongoing after man falls off Penang Bridge


GEORGE TOWN: A 48-year-old man is feared drowned after he fell off the Penang Bridge at KM5.5 on Tuesday (Feb 18).

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the victim was believed to have fallen from the bridge at about 2.15am.

"We received the report from the public informing us about the incident and we later found out the victim was from Bayan Lepas," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 18).

ACP Abdul Rozak said the search and rescue (SAR) operation was initiated with help from the state Fire and Rescue Department and other rescue agencies.

As of the time of writing, the operation is still ongoing in the vicinity around the Penang Bridge.
