Warisan’s Darell Leiking denies rumours that he left the party

"They attack because I speak the truth" – Darell Leiking dismisses fake resignation post, vows to keep fighting corruption.

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan deputy president Datuk Darell Leiking has strongly denied a viral Facebook post claiming he has left the party, calling it an attempt to discredit him.

Leiking believes he is being attacked due to his strong reaction to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s latest statement, where the agency revealed it had recorded statements from five individuals, including a Sabah politician, in relation to a corruption scandal involving state assemblymen.

Speaking to The Star, Leiking said he was not surprised that he was being targeted.

"It’s alright. The more we discuss the issue of corruption, the more of these will arise," he remarked and said that smear campaigns and fake pages were part of a wider effort to suppress the truth dissent.

Leiking insisted discussions should be based on policy and governance, not on fabrications.

"Nothing had ever (stopped me). If I am wrong, then I am wrong. But if I am right, why must I stop?" he said, adding that he had spent 11 out of his 13 years in office as an opposition representative and was no stranger to political pressure,” he said.
