Aniu holds surprise wedding ceremony at temple

MALAYSIAN singer Aniu sprang a surprise in Jenjarom, Selangor, when he announced his marriage to Rachel Ten, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The 48-year-old Penangite, who had just finished performing his new song honouring Venerable Master Hsing Yun at the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple, was inspired to make the announcement in front of a live audience last Saturday.

Ten came unprepared and was shocked when she was asked to go to the front to attend her own wedding.

Although the couple have been legally married for several years, they have kept their marital status private.

“I did not expect we’d be married like this! I feel that being able to receive the blessings of Venerable Xin Bao is a result of my good karma. I will cherish all this, and I thank everyone for their well wishes,” he said.

This is Aniu’s second marriage.

His first was to Taiwanese Shui Hsiang-Chi between 2000 and 2010, and the two have a daughter together.

> A landlord in Shanghai province was horrified to find his apartment turned into a chicken farm after not visiting for two years, China Press reported.

He had decided to pay a visit after neighbours contacted him to complain of a foul smell coming from his unit.

Upon unlocking the door, he found rows of chicken cages stacked atop each other.

“The foul smell has seeped into the floorboards and unless the place is fully renovated, it will be unsuitable for living,” he said.

The landlord revealed that he had used up his life savings to pay for the apartment.

He has reported the rogue tenant to the authorities for illegally running a chicken farm in a residential unit.
