Helicopter crash: Final message sent 8min before accident


PETALING JAYA: The operator of a Bell 206L4 helicopter sent his last message about returning to the landing site less than 10min before the accident in Bentong.

Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said the helicopter, leased and operated by MHS Aviation Berhad, was on an aerial work flight when the incident occurred at 10.26am on Thursday (Feb 6).

"The last information was reported by the operator at 10.18am to the Flight Information Service at Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Centre, notifying that the helicopter is returning to the landing site," it said in a statement.

The accident involved one ground crew while the helicopter pilot is reported safe.

Further investigation will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry in accordance with Part XXVI Civil Aviation Regulations 2016, it added.
