Ops Sky: Three celebrities to appear at MACC tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: Three celebrities will provide statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday (Feb 6) to assist in the investigation concerning a syndicate of financial consultancy firms.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said they would appear at 10am at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

"This does not mean they are suspects. They were only called to record their statements to complete the investigation papers," he said on Wednesday (Feb 5), reported Sinar Harian.

On Sunday (Feb 2), Azam confirmed that the MACC would call the celebrities involved, including a famous artist linked to the financial consulting company busted in Op Sky.

In January, MACC successfully busted corruption and money laundering activities involving financial consulting companies and bank officers at several financial institutions.

This was the result of the arrest of 12 individuals in raids conducted by the MACC's Anti-Money Laundering Division (AML) in cooperation with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) at 24 locations through Ops Sky, covering residences and offices around the Klang Valley recently.

So far, 27 individuals have been detained, including 18 bank officers, eight financial consultancy company staff, and one civilian, all of whom have been released from remand on MACC bail.
