Security guard arrested for allegedly assaulting dental patient in Melaka

MELAKA: A 19-year-old male dental patient has alleged that he was sexually assaulted by a security guard at a public dental clinic in Alor Gajah.

Melaka acting police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Md Nazri Zawawi reported that the victim, an undergraduate from Kuala Besut, Terengganu, was at the clinic for treatment when the incident occurred on Jan 28.

"The victim asked the security guard for directions to the washroom. However, the suspect allegedly followed him inside and touched him inappropriately," he stated on Monday (Feb 3).

Shocked and distressed, the victim lodged a police report on the same day.

Following investigations, SAC Md Nazri said that police arrested a 19-year-old security guard from Kota Tinggi, Johor, on Monday (Feb 3) to assist in the probe.

The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 10 years' jail, a fine, whipping, or any combination of the punishments upon conviction.
