Thunderstorm warning issued for Perak, Sarawak, and Sabah


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across parts of Perak, Sarawak, and Sabah, extending to WP Labuan.

The affected areas in Perak include Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, and Perak Tengah.

In Sarawak, Kapit (Belaga) and Miri (Telang Usan) are on alert.

Sabah's Interior regions, including Kuala Penyu and Beaufort, are also expected to be impacted.

The warning is valid until 9pm on Wednesday (Jan 29).

This alert is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

The warning is a short-term alert, effective for up to six hours from issuance.
