Nancy: Sarawak flood victims transferred to PPS


PETALING JAYA: More than 1,097 flood victims in Sarawak have been transferred to 14 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in the districts of Kuching, Serian, Bintulu, Miri, Siburan, Tatau, Bau and Simunjan.

In a statement on Wednesday (Jan 29), Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the highest number of victims was recorded in the Serian district, with 374 people in six PPS.

“The Welfare Department (JKM) and relevant agencies have mobilised immediate assistance to ensure basic needs and psychosocial support are channelled to all flood victims in the state.

“I urge all affected parties to always prioritise safety and comply with the authorities' instructions.

"For those who wish to help, donations can be channelled through JKM or recognised organisations," Nancy said.

She also conveyed her sadness regarding the flood situation that has impacted Sarawak.
