Eight Taiwanese, one Malaysian charged with possession of drugs and firearms worth RM120mil


SUNGAI BESAR: Eight Taiwanese nationals and a local man were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here on Tuesday with two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs weighing 489.7 kilograms and firearms, with the total haul valued at RM120mil.

The Taiwanese accused were identified as Lee Chi-Nan, 29; Chou Chun-Hao, Hong Sheng-Bao, Liu Kuang-Hui, and Tseng Yi-Chia, 31; Lin Chung-Hsien, 32; Fan Ming-Che, 34; and Chu Shao-Hsien, 42. The local accused was identified as Low Kian Ming, 49.

The charges were read to the accused, who nodded in acknowledgement, though no pleas were recorded.

They were jointly charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, namely 183.7 kilograms of ecstasy and 306 kilograms of Erimin 5, at Taman Industri Alam Jaya 2, Bandar Puncak Alam in Kuala Selangor at 2.20pm on Jan 16.

The charge falls under Section 39B(1)(c) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2) and read together with Section 34 of the same Act.

If convicted, all nine face either the death penalty or life imprisonment, with whipping of up to 12 strokes if not sentenced to death.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Nor Hakimi Mohamad Rosedin prosecuted, while all nine of the accused were unrepresented.

Magistrate Siti Hajar Ali set April 21, 2025 for case mention and the preparation of the chemical report.

On Jan 19, it was reported that police had dismantled a drug processing laboratory believed to be operated by an international syndicate, following three raids conducted across Selangor and Kuala Lumpur on Jan 16.
