IPOH: Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria admits that he made a mistake in connecting Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh with YTL Corporation Bhd.
In a statement issued Monday (Jan 27), Razman said he admits making the factual error.
“I admit that Yeoh has no connection with YTL. It was an error that occurred unintentionally.
“With my statement, I express my regret, and apologise to Yeoh and YTL, as well as to any parties affected or offended by the factual confusion in my statement,” he said.
Commenting on Razman’s claims, Yeoh on Monday had lashed out at Razman for claiming the former was linked to the Yeoh family, which owns YTL Corporation Bhd.
“PAS needs to know that not all Yeohs are related,” said Hannah in a post on X.
Razman, meanwhile, said he was disappointed in the news coverage by an online portal regarding his speech at a programme in Seri Iskandar on Sunday (Jan 26), saying that his mistaken statement about Yeoh was not a main point and had taken less than ten seconds out of the entire speech of over half an hour.
“I am also somewhat disappointed with the reporting, which seems to have deliberately sought out mistakes by only highlighting the error without covering the speech and other issues, aside from the success of the three-day programme.
“The Gerak Muafakat Ummah programme was a three-day event involving three main PAS wings, with a total attendance of more than 5,000 people.
“The statement quoted by the online portal was not the main point of my speech, especially since the event featured three key figures,” he said.
