Mohamad Hamsan stable, seen chatting with Sabah Governor

KOTA KINABALU: Sungai Sibuga assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Hamsan Awang Supain is recovering well and was seen chatting with Sabah’s Tuan Yang DiPertua Tun Musa Aman during a visit.

The State Governor visited Mohamad Hamsan, 65, who is currently receiving treatment at KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital for acute kidney issues, around noon on Sunday (Jan 19).

He spent time speaking with Mohamad Hamsan and his wife, Datin Kalsom Abd Aziz.

“He (Mohamad Hamsan) is in stable condition. Although he appeared tired, he was in good spirits as he chatted with Tun Musa,” said his younger brother, Wahidan.

Mohamad Hamsan contested the seat previously held by Musa, Sabah's former chief minister, as a Barisan Nasional candidate in the September 2020 snap state election.

It is understood that Mohamad Hamsan has been in and out of hospital since December, with his latest admission on Friday (Jan 17).

A long-time Umno member, he was appointed Assistant Housing and Local Government Minister under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In recognition of his service, he was conferred the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which carries the title Datuk, in 2022.
