Duo plead guilty to possessing child porn


JOHOR BARU: Two men pleaded guilty at the Sessions and Magistrate’s Courts for possessing child sexual abuse material and obscene material in December last year.

Self-employed Lim Xin Yi, 31, and e-hailing driver Goh Kien Yoong, 37, were charged separately here yesterday.

At the Sessions Court, Lim faced two charges of having 2,172 photographs and 400 videos of sexual abuse against children, on two different computers.

Goh was charged with possessing material of sexual abuse against children with 211 photos in a laptop.

Both were charged under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides imprisonment of not more than five years and a fine of not more than RM10,000 or both upon conviction. They pleaded guilty.

At a Magistrate’s Court, Lim pleaded guilty to keeping obscene pictures and videos.

He was charged under Section 929(a) of the Penal Code.

Lim was fined RM5,000 in default of five months imprisonment.

Separately, Goh pleaded guilty to keeping pornographic content in a mobile phone.

He was also charged under Section 929 (a) of the Penal Code.

Goh received a fine of RM5,000 in default of 12 months imprisonment.
